SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

The pastor of a Franklin County church has been arrested for downloading and sharing child pornography over the Internet.

Keith Bell, 53, of Shippensburg, was taken into custody Wednesday by agents from the Attorney General's Child Predator Section, according to Attorney General Kathleen Kane.

Bell is the pastor of the Church of God in Upper Strasburg, according to the criminal complaint and the church's website.

According to Kane, Bell was arrested following an investigation into the downloading and sharing of numerous files containing images of children engaged in sexually graphic acts and poses.

The criminal complaint states that Bell allegedly viewed three images of child pornography, which he downloaded from the file sharing network Ares.

When investigators confronted Bell, they said he told them had seen child pornography on his computer but did not know how it got there. He said he used the Ares program to download music for his daughter's wedding.

Four laptop computers, a desktop computer, and other electronic media seized from his home will be analyzed as part of the continuing investigation. According to investigators, Bell said only one of the computers had the Ares program on it.

Bell was charged with three counts of distribution of child pornography, one count of possession of child pornography, and one count of criminal use of a communication facility.

He was sent to Cumberland County Prison on $150,000 cash bail.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for June 17.
