Rocky Mount, VA – The Class of 2013 graduated Saturday at Franklin County High School, with 480 diplomas handed out during the ceremony.
The commencement exercises were held at 10 a.m. in Cy Dillon Stadium. It was Franklin County's 63rd annual ceremony.
Temperatures in the lower 80s were a nice change of pace from the usually hot and humid weather that had plagued the graduation ceremony in years past.
Of the 480 graduates, 187 were honor graduates, and 74 were distinguished honor graduates.
The keynote speaker was local entrepreneur Ronald Willard, Sr. Willard is president of the Willard Companies and a 1964 graduate of Franklin County High School. Willard is known in the area for most of the business development in and around the Westlake and Smith Mountain Lake areas of Franklin County.
