CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Officials are trying to figure out what caused a fire at a home in Chambersburg late Sunday.

The single-story home at 558 Kraiss Avenue sustained heavy fire damage.

Chambersburg Fire Chief William Fitzgerald said the cause of the fire is unknown, and there was apparently no one home when the fire was reported just after 9:30 p.m.

Fitzgerald said firefighters arrived to find heavy fire blowing out one of the side attic windows, with heavy smoke coming from the eves of the home.

Seven fire companies responded to the blaze. Some of the units remained on the scene for several hours.

There were no reports of injuries to any firefighters.
