A 56-year-old Midtown man told Harrisburg police he was attacked by two men over the weekend when he confronted the pair about their suspicious behavior.
The victim reported that he was on his porch Saturday night when he saw the two trying the doors of every car they passed in the 1900 block of Penn Street, city police said.
He yelled out to leave the cars alone, then retrieved a stick from his house and confronted the men again from the sidewalk.
The two then attacked, punching and kicking the victim repeatedly before he used his stick to hit the assailants and drive them off, police said.
The victim, who was not identified, was treated at Harrisburg Hospital for multiple contusions, abrasions and an injured ankle.
Police added that they received complaints from neighbors that the block is dangerous because many street lights are not working.
