Harrisburg man arrested for woman's murder in Hershey

A Harrisburg man charged in the murder of an 87-year-old woman was looking for someone else when he stabbed Joyce Roth in a Hershey area home last week, according to prosecutors.

Dajuan Anthony Porter, 29, was arrested Tuesday for fatally stabbing Roth inside the home on Byron Road in Derry Township on June 10.

Dauphin County District Attorney Ed Marsico said Porter was due in court on sexual assault charges the morning of the murder, and was looking for an accuser related to Roth who previously lived in the home and was the likely target of the murder.

Porter was charged with murder of the first degree, burglary, retaliation against a witness or victim, and intimidation of a witness or victim.

He was additionally charged with arson and a second set of witness intimidation and retaliation counts for setting a fire the morning of the murder at the Lower Paxton Township home of a second accuser, Marsico said. No one was injured in the fire.

Porter had been arrested by Harrisburg police in August for three incidents in which he allegedly performed sexual acts on men as they were asleep.

He was scheduled to go on trial this summer on three counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, three counts of sexual assault, and one count of burglary.

According to court documents, Harrisburg police filed additional charges against Porter last week for a similar incident that allegedly occurred in 2010.

He was sent to Dauphin County Prison on $1 million bail following his arrest in that case Tuesday. With the filing of the new charges, he will be held without bail.

Roth, of Allentown, was visiting Derry Township for the high school graduation of her great-grandchild and was staying at the home of her son and daughter-in-law when she was stabbed in the chest while sleeping in a guest bedroom.
