LEBANON, Pa. (WHTM) -

A 12-year-old Lebanon boy sustained minor injuries when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver, police said.

The child was crossing the intersection of 8th and Union streets with a non-motorized scooter when the incident occurred just before 4 p.m. Tuesday, according to a police news release.

He was transported to a hospital by his parents, and treated for his injuries and released.

Police said the vehicle that struck the boy is a small to medium sized car that is dark in color, possibly gray or black, that was traveling south on 8th Street.

A witness followed the car as it fled the scene, but lost it on Cornwall Road in the area of Norman Drive, police said.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about the striking vehicle or the driver is asked to contact the Lebanon City Police Department at 717-272-6611.
