No Charges Against Officers Involved in Death of Christiansburg Man
Montgomery Co., VA - No charges will be filed against three law enforcement officials after a Christiansburg man died in a police-involved shooting earlier this year.
A special prosecutor announced his decision in the case Friday.
On April 10th, two Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputies and one Christiansburg Police officer were involved in a shooting. The prosecutor says officers were trying to arrest 41-year-old Robert Hughes on meth charges at his home. He says Hughes ran out the door and shot at a deputy, prompting the three officers to shoot back.
Hughes died at the scene after being shot nine times. The prosecutor's report states the officers' use of deadly force was justified.
