Harrisburg's director of the Department of Parks, Recreation and Enrichment will announce her bid to run for lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania today, according to a press release posted on her Facebook page.
Brenda M. Alton, 53, will officially announce her candidacy in the Capitol rotunda at noon today. She said Pennsylvanians want the state government to change its policies and practices "that leave most taxpaying members of the working class struggling to avoid poverty"
"It's time for the Commonwealth to create access to adequate healthcare, affordable housing, educational opportunities and employment prospects for all 12 million Pennsylvania residents and not just the privileged among us," said Alton in a press release.
