HANOVER, Pa. (WHTM) -

Vandals caused an estimated $35,000 in damage when they pushed over about 25 tombstones at a Hanover cemetery.

Ken Floyd, manager of the Mount Olivet Cemetery in the 700 block of Baltimore Street, said the monuments were pushed over sometime after 3:30 p.m. Monday.

The damage was discovered at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Floyd said one large monument was broken in half when it pushed over by the vandals, and may cost between $15,000 and $20,000 to repair.

He said all of the damaged monuments were in the older section on the cemetery, and most of them had been placed between the late 1800's and early 1900's.
