LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) -

Lancaster County's district attorney is ready to release his findings in the police-involved shooting of a homeless man earlier this month.

District Attorney Craig Stedman has scheduled a news conference Friday morning.

A police officer fatally shot 35-year-old Gregory Stephen Bayne in the first block of N. Queen Street on July 10.

Police have said officers were questioning Bayne about urinating in public when he pulled a knife from his pocket and charged at an officer, who fired one shot at him.

Officers then chased Bayne as he fled south on Queen Street and at one point used a stun gun on him, but it had no effect, according to police.

Bayne was ordered to drop the knife, but he again lunged with the knife and the officer who fired the initial shot fired two more rounds, striking Bayne once in the torso, police said.

Bayne died later in the morning at Lancaster General Hospital.

No police officers were injured.
