GETTYSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Preparations are in the final stages before Gettysburg welcomes visitors from all over the country for the 150th anniversary of the epic Civil War battle.

The main events begin this weekend, and organizers said Thursday that after more than four years of planning, things are finally falling into place.

"We fully expect over 250,000 people to descend on Gettysburg and Adams County, and we will see an economic impact of over $100 million when this is over," said Norris Flowers, president and CEO of the Gettysburg Convention and Visitors Bureau.

With the crowds will come traffic, so getting to know bus routes is key.

"Leave your cars in one place and really enjoy a transportation free weekend by taking the free shuttles everywhere you go," said Joanne Hanley, president of the Gettysburg Foundation.
