STEELTON, Pa. (WHTM) -

Swatara Township Police are investigating an attempted robbery at a Turkey Hill in Steelton.

At 12:05 a.m. on Tuesday, police were dispatched to the Turkey Hill along the first block of South Harrisburg Street for a report of an attempted robbery.

The cashier told officers that she received a suspicious phone call from a person asking what time the store was closing. The caller then asked if a particular drink machine was still turned on. The cashier thought this was strange, so she locked the front door.

Very shortly thereafter, a man dressed in a dark hooded sweatshirt and wearing a light blue covering over his face attempted to open the front door of the store. He appeared to be holding a handgun.

The man then fled on foot after realizing the doors were locked.

Authorities checked the area and used a K-9 to track the suspect, but they were unable to find him.

Anyone with information about this incident may call police at 717-564-2550.
