Man, 66, flown to trauma center following assault

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

A 66-year-old Reading man was flown to the hospital with severe head trauma following an assault in a parking lot. A suspect is in custody.

State police said the victim was struck in the face in a Lowe's Home Improvement parking lot along the 1600 block of Lincoln Way East in Chambersburg at 5:15 p.m. Saturday evening. The victim immediately became unconscious, fell to the concrete pavement and struck the back of his head.

A medical helicopter flew him to York Trauma Center. There is no word on his condition at this time.

The suspect, 29-year-old Alonzo John Weeks, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. Bail was set at $100,000. Weeks is currently incarcerated at the Franklin County Prison.
