Harrisburg, PA– Jerad Head homered in each game to spark the Harrisburg Senators to a doubleheader sweep of the Bowie Baysox, 1-0 and 6-2 at Metro Bank Park. The second game was a rain-shortened five-inning victory.
In game one, Head's blast led off the fourth inning and provided the Senators the only run they needed.
Rob Gilliam was terrific on the mound for Harrisburg, giving up just one hit in six shutout innings of work. The right-hander walked two and struck out three, and earned his third win of the season. Aaron Barrett came on for the seventh and picked up his 17th save.
In game two, the Senators scored three runs in the first and three more in the second. Once again, it was Head who provided the bulk of the offense. He laced a two-run double to left in his first at-bat and hit a two-run homer just over the fence in left his next time up. The blast was his 12th on the season, giving him the team lead.
Jimmy Van Ostrand delivered an RBI double and Steven Souza, Jr. drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.
Matt Swynenberg made a spot start for the Senators and picked up the complete game win, allowing only two unearned runs in five innings.
