State police investigate Franklin Co. vehicle arson

State police are investigating an incident involving a stolen vehicle being intentionally set on fire in Franklin County.

Officials say they received a report of a stolen vehicle on June 23 at around 2:25 p.m. in the area of Orchard Road in Waynesboro. The car was described as a white four-door 2001 Hyundai Accent valued at approximately $1000.

At 8:10 p.m. that evening, state police responded to a vehicle fire near Tomstown and Shank Hess roads.

The vehicle was found in a burn pit, and during the investigation authorities discovered it belonged to the earlier car theft victim.
