Two people were arrested for operating a suspected meth lab in a Waynesboro apartment after a fire and explosion Monday night.
Borough police identified the suspects as Logan Tyler Buchanan, 30, of Lemasters, and Josie Lee McCormick, 33, who lived in the apartment at 153 West Main Street.
Police and firefighters responded to the apartment building shortly after 8 p.m. for a report of a fire and subsequent explosion.
Buchanan and McCormick were transported to Waynesboro Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released. A Waynesboro police officer was treated for smoke inhalation and also released.
Police said they later searched the apartment and found chemicals and substances used to make methamphetamine.
Buchanan and McCormick were sent to the Franklin County Jail on charges of possession with the intent to manufacture methamphetamines, operation of a methamphetamine laboratory and causing or risking a catastrophe.
Bail for each was set at $750,000 cash.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for July 23.
The American Red Cross said it was assisting four adults and two children displaced by the fire with food and shelter.
