A Northumberland County woman has been charged with animal cruelty for leaving her dog inside a hot car.
State police in Lykens said 83-year-old Phyllis Marie Lubold, of Herndon, left the one-year-old Jack Russell terrier-mix alone in the car Tuesday afternoon while she shopped at the Walmart in Elizabethville.
Lubold was in the store for more than 40 minutes while the dog was left in heat above 90 degrees and only a cracked window, police said.
