Gun Safety Classes Offered By Danville Police

Posted:

Danville, VA - The Danville Police Department wants to make sure every gun owner is responsible. So, they are offering free classes to the public.

They will have a few classes between now and the end of the year where they will teach the laws dealing with owning a gun. The syllabus will include how to properly store a gun and basic gun safety.

Corporal T.B. Scearce with the Danville Police Department says gun theft is common in the city. So, this class will address the best way to prevent that.

"We want to bring a general sense of awareness to the ownership and a sense of responsibility to the ownership," said Scearce.

Depending on the turn out of these classes, they will determine if they should have more next year. The first class is this Saturday.
