Danville, VA-- A Danville woman has turned her hobby of making bows into a charity fundraiser.
Mary Clayton Eggleston started making bows last year for fun and is now selling them at a Danville store called Betsy's Place.
The bows go for about $10-$12, and all the money goes to the worldwide charity, Operation Smile.
That charity funds surgeries for kids cleft lip, cleft palate or other facial deformities. Eggleston will be going to dental school, just one reason why this charity stood out to her.
"It's just a great way to help others and help children," Eggleston said. "I mean your smile is just so important. It's important to me, it's important to most people and it's just really to see these children with cleft lips and pallets."
If you'd like to order a customized bow, contact Betsy's Place at (434) 792-1530.
