LYNCHBURG - The Hillcats didn't score a run until the 8th inning but ended up with a 2-1 walk-off win Monday night against Myrtle Beach.
Elmer Reyes hit a triple in the 8th and then the relay throw was air-mailed into the seats. Reyes scored to tie it 1-1.
Kyle Kubitza then walked in the 9th, advanced to third, and then scored the winning run on a wild pitch.
Much of the game was decided by the two starting pitchers.
The Hillcats recently acquired Ryan Hinson (out of independent ball) has a funky delivery but it was effective. The former Clemson Tiger allowed just one run in 7 innings.
Hinson was matched by Luke Jackson. The 2010 1st round pick reached 96 miles an hour on the radar gun, didn't allow a run, and struck out eight in six innings.
