Ephrata man charged in New Holland store burglary

NEW HOLLAND, Pa. (WHTM) -

An Ephrata man has been charged in the burglary of a New Holland grocery store last fall.

Michael Markley, 27, pried open a side door of the Sav Mor Grocery, at 14 S. Railroad Avenue, and removed a cash register on November 18, according to New Holland police.

His is also accused of stealing a woman's purse from her car on the same day. The cash register and purse were found in the Cocalico Creek the next day.

Police said Markley confessed to both incidents and to numerous crimes in the Ephrata area.

He was charged by New Holland police with burglary and theft.
