HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Police are looking for a man who escaped from the Dauphin County Judicial and Booking Center in Swatara Township this morning.

Corey Deon Gray, 35, of Harrisburg, was in a holding cell with another man who was scheduled to be released later in the day, and Gray apparently took that man's identification while he was sleeping and used it to make his escape, according to First Deputy District Attorney Fran Chardo.

"He got really lucky," Chardo said of Gray during a news conference.

Several police departments were involved in a search for Gray around the booking center, located next to the Dauphin County Prison, for several hours during the morning.

State police were using a helicopter to search from the air, while officers and a K-9 team scoured part of the Capital Area Greenbelt, a nature trail encircling Harrisburg and nearby communities.

The active search was called off by noon, but police continue to look for Gray, who was last seen wearing a white tank top, jean shorts and orange shoes.

Gray was awaiting arraignment on charges of possession of a controlled substance, flight to avoid apprehension, DUI, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, driving with a suspended license, and summary traffic violations.

Because of this morning's incident, Dauphin County prosecutors additionally charged him with escape, identity theft, and theft by unlawful taking.
