Man shot during Harrisburg home invasion

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

A man was shot during an attempted home invasion robbery in Harrisburg late Friday evening, according to city police.

Officers were dispatched to the Hall Manor Housing Complex just after 4 p.m. on reports that a man had been shot in the leg.

Authorities found the victim, who told police that he had been in an apartment with his girlfriend. A man with a gun entered the apartment and demanded their property.

The victim refused and then began fighting the intruder. During the struggle, the victim was shot in the leg.

Police found the suspect shortly thereafter and identified him as 39-year-old Adrian Ortiz-Diaz of Allison Hill.

Ortiz-Diaz sustained facial and head injuries during the fight with the victim. Both men were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. Officers also recovered a gun at the scene.

Authorities charged Ortiz-Diaz with aggravated assault, robbery, carrying a firearm without a license, and recklessly endangering another person.
