Woman, 19, injured in crash, charged with DUI

NEWPORT, Pa. (WHTM) -

A 19-year-old woman was taken to the hospital with major injuries following a crash in Perry County. She was then arrested for DUI.

State police said Ashley Reich of Newport was driving on Upper Bailey Road east of Hickory Ridge Road in Miller Township at around 1 a.m. on July 7.

While negotiating a left-hand curve, she went off the roadway, struck a tree and then left the scene. Reich was found a short time later lying in the woods.

Officials said she suffered major injuries; she was taken to Harrisburg Hospital by New Bloomfield EMS.

Reich was then arrested for DUI.

According to authorities, she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
