Two New Lynchburg Road Detours Start Monday for Construction Projects

Posted:

Lynchburg, VA - Starting Monday, July 29, city officials will set up new detours in Lynchburg that are scheduled to last about three weeks.

Officials say the lower end of James Street (from Carroll Avenue to the Lynchburg Expressway overpass) will be closed for utility construction. The Expressway off ramps will remain open. The upper end of James Street (from Stadium Road to the south bound exit ramps) will still be accessible.

Also starting Monday, crews will be working on utility construction at the entrance of Riverside Park on Rivermont Avenue.

The entrance will remain open, and there will be a detour route at the park entrance and parking lot.  Ash Street will be used for traffic exiting the park.

Officials ask that park users drive cautiously while construction at the entrance is in progress.

The project is expected to take about three weeks.
