Journey For Hope Riding Through Southside

Danville, VA - A team of cyclists made a swing through Danville Monday afternoon as they make their way across the country.

It's all part of fraternity Pi Kappa Phi's Journey of Hope to raise funds and awareness for people with disabilities.

The men are biking from San Francisco to Washington, D.C, some 4,000 miles.

One of the cyclists, Nathan Barth, goes to Virginia Tech.

Barth says that doing the ride and being back in Virginia means a lot to him.

"It feels awesome. I've been waiting for this day to cross back into Virginia for a long time. Counting down the days since about Alabama. It's really exciting to be only five days out," Barth said.

The group will be riding into Lynchburg Tuesday. The cyclists hope to raise $500,000 on their journey.
