Midstate baseball fans react to A-Rod penalties

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

From Major League Baseball stadiums to youth baseball diamonds here in the Midstate, the talk has been Alex Rodriguez and the 12 other players who face suspensions.

At the tryouts for the MidState Mavericks, an elite travel team for youth players, a father and son from York shared their thoughts on performance enhancing drugs in baseball.

"It's ruining the game of baseball for the young kids coming up," Keith Martyn said.

His 13-year-old son Brendan said innocent or guilty, "it's a shame, really, that they are putting themselves in this position."

Coach Kevin Daly had an interesting take.

"You hate to pass judgment without knowing the facts and I always think there are two sides to a story. Unfortunately, Alex (Rodriguez) has kind of painted himself in a corner over the years," Daly said "At the end of the day I think ... there needs to be something. We need to clean the game up."
