Roanoke Co., VA - Roanoke County is getting nearly 100 high skilled jobs as an international can maker has chosen a site there to show off their new manufacturing plant.
The announcement Tuesday morning highlighted a massive undertaking at the local and state levels to land Ardagh Group's $93.5 million investment.
Virginia beat out a half dozen other states vying for the plant, which will open up shop at the former site of Hanover Direct.
Economic developers hope the announcement will create more jobs as a result.
"Their growth is significant in the United States at this time and that means spin off projects that will come to the community to help supply their needs when they begin their manufacturing here," said Jill Loope with Roanoke County Economic Development.
A representative for Ardagh Group, which is based in Luxembourg, says the state of the art facility will be their "flagship" plant, supplying five percent of the country's steel can needs.
