HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

The U.S. Department of Transportation is sending an additional $9.65 million in emergency funding to Pennsylvania for repairs to two bridges damaged by a fiery tanker crash on Interstate 81 near Harrisburg.

U.S. Senator Bob Casey announced the federal funding Wednesday.

The U.S. Department of Transportation previously awarded $2 million in emergency aid in the days after the crash May 9, when a fuel tanker overturned and burned on the ramp from Interstate 81 northbound to Route 22/322 westbound.

The fire damaged the ramp and a bridge above it that carries Route 22 eastbound into Harrisburg.

A PennDOT spokesman said this week that the Route 22 East overpass should reopen by mid-November, while work on the ramp should be completed in October.
