Nelson Co., VA - The search for a missing 17-year-old girl is now in its third full day in Nelson County. Alexis Murphy was last seen Saturday evening leaving her home.
Investigators will be holding a news conference at 4:30 p.m. today.
Tuesday night, police found her car in a movie theater parking lot outside of Charlottesville.
Officials have relocated their command center to the Lovingston Fire Department. It was previously at the Tyke River Elementary School in Nelson County. They moved command post because kids are starting to come back to school.
Investigators say they found several items of interest inside the car Tuesday night. After that preliminary search, officials sealed the car and towed it away so they can conduct a more thorough search.
Investigators say the big goal Wednesday is to narrow down the time frame for how long that car had been in that parking lot.
ABC 13 spoke to Murphy's family about the new developments in the search. They say they're happy the car was found, but they are not happy with how they found out about it.
"Before any social media outlet or anybody should've known that the car had been found, the family should have been told first. Her mom and dad should've been notified that the car had been found…whether it's a phone call or something. We shouldn't have had to find out the way we found out," said Angela Taylor, Murphy's aunt .
