YORK, Pa. (WHTM) -

Police in York County say a woman smashed the front door to the S.P.C.A. with an aluminum bat while demanding to see her niece.

Northern York County Regional Police were dispatched to the animal shelter along the 3100 block of Susquehanna Trail for a report of a woman with a baseball bat.

The S.P.C.A. was closed for the day, and the doors were locked. Authorities say the woman used an aluminum baseball bat from her vehicle to smash out the front door.

The woman then demanded her niece. She left the facility when ordered to do so by the employees.

Officers arrived at the scene and identified the bat-wielding woman as 38-year-old Cindy O'Ferrell of Dale City, Va.

O'Ferrell screamed that the S.P.C.A. had kidnapped her niece, and she was there to get her back. She demanded that the police retrieve her niece Molly from the kidnappers.

Upon further investigation, it was found that Molly was a dog.

O'Ferrell was arrested for burglary, criminal trespass and criminal mischief. She was arraigned and released after posting bail, which was set at $30,000.
