DRY RUN, Pa. (WHTM) -

Volunteer firefighters from six counties helped to save a hay storage barn Monday afternoon in Franklin County.

The fire in the 24000 block of Back Road in Fannett Township was spotted at around 1:30 p.m. by a passerby who reported it to officials and to the farmer, who was able to contain the flames until firefighters arrived.

The burning hay was moved from the barn to an open area, where firefighters tore apart the bales and soaked them down with water and foam.

The cause of the fire was unknown.

Volunteers from Franklin, Cumberland, Fulton, Huntingdon, Perry and Juniata counties responded to the scene.
