Man dies after police-involved shooting

Posted: Updated:
MANHEIM, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Lancaster County man died at a hospital after he was shot by police officers Monday night in Rapho Township.

Steven M. Brill, 46, died from his injuries while in surgery shortly after he arrived at Lancaster General Hospital, investigators said Tuesday.

Police said Brill indicated that he would not be taken alive when he called 911, and he refused to put down a rifle when officers responded to a home in the 1400 block of Old Line Road at around 8:45 p.m.

Two officers fired their weapons, but investigators have not said how many times Brill was shot.

His gun was later determined to be a Daisy Powerline 880 air rifle with a scope, police said.

No officers were injured.

The officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure.

State police are handing the ongoing investigation.
