MILLERSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

State police in Lykens have charged a Millersburg man with assaulting a trooper.

Terry Lee Schreiber, 63, threw a cordless phone at the trooper's head, narrowly missing him, and began to approach the trooper in a violent manner as he attempted to start a physical confrontation, police said in a news release Wednesday.

The trooper was attempting to question Schreiber on the front porch of a home in the 100 block of Shiffers Mill Road in Washington Township. Police had responded to the home Tuesday afternoon after Schreiber harassed and threatened to kill a 68-year-old Millersburg man, according to the release.

Schreiber repeatedly ignored orders to cease his violent actions, and slammed a screen door into the trooper as he ran inside the residence, police said.

He was taken into custody inside the house and arraigned on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment, terroristic threats and harassment.

He was then sent to Dauphin County Prison on $100,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for August 23.
