FORT INDIANTOWN GAP, Pa. (WHTM) -

Matthew Ott spent a few hours with members of the 108th Field Artillery at Fort Indiantown Gap in Lebanon County.  Ott, who is 13, has raised money for military families in need for the past four years through a lemonade stand fundraiser that he holds on Memorial Day.

Matthew and his father John came up with the idea as a way to pay tribute to his mother died when he was a baby.  Patricia Ott served in the Army until she passed away from undetermined illness while the family lived in Hawaii.

The Army National Guard invited Matthew to attend artillery drills and sit in some of the most important vehicles that are used in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Matthew says he is still trying to identify some military families that are in need of financial assistance.  He is already looking forward to next year's fundraiser, and he hopes to raise enough money to buy a car for a family.
