MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Police said they have arrested a man who allegedly used a box cutter when he robbed a Walmart in Cumberland County early Wednesday.

Ronald Charles Wynn, of Shippensburg, surrendered to authorities and was placed in the Cumberland County Prison on $100,000 bail, according to Silver Spring Township police.

Wynn, 45, has been charged with robbery, simple assault, and theft for the robbery at the Carlisle Pike store.

He allegedly was holding the box cutter when he approached a clerk and said he needed money from the cash register.

He then took cash from the drawer and left the store at around 4 a.m., police said.

Investigators said a taxi cab picked him up in Harrisburg, drove him to the store, then returned him to Harrisburg after the robbery.

They do not believe the cab driver knew anything about the robbery.

Investigators said they were able to connect Wynn to the robbery through the phone he used to call the cab company, and through an ATM card he used inside the Walmart.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for August 21.
