MIDDLETOWN, Pa. (WHTM) -

The pilot of a small plane was uninjured when the aircraft landed on its belly and skidded off the runway at Harrisburg International Airport Thursday night.

The airport's only runway was temporarily closed following the accident at around 7 p.m.

Airport spokesman Scott Miller said the plane's landing gear malfunctioned. He said the pilot was the only person onboard.

It took more than an hour for emergency crews to remove the disabled plane from the runway.

Four incoming flights were diverted to other airports.
