A missing elderly woman was found alive in a wooded area of Perry County two days after disappearing from her Marysville home.
State police in Newport said 81-year-old Julia Shumaker was found Friday afternoon.
She had been reported missing Wednesday night.
State troopers, wildlife conservation officers, and a search and rescue team searched for her Friday in state game lands in Rye Township after finding Shumaker's 2004 Chevrolet Malibu in an area off Lamb's Gap Road.
The search included dogs and a state police helicopter.
Deryk Daly, a Game Commission wildlife conservation officer, said searchers eventually found "obvious signs" and soon heard Shumaker calling for help.
"At that point, we had called back to her and we were able to locate her based off her yells for help," Daly said.
Family member had feared the worst and breathed a sigh of relieve when the news reached them.
"I was like, oh my god they found her," grandson Sean Kerr said. He added, "Thanks a lot to everybody who helped."
Shumaker was conscious as she was carried out of the woods, placed on a stretcher and transported by ambulance to a hospital for evaluation.
Family members say she went to Holy Spirit Hospital, and she was in good condition late Friday night.
