HERSHEY, Pa. (WHTM) -

A robber pretended to have a handgun in his pocket when he held up a convenience store in Hershey late Sunday, police said.

Derry Township police said the robber ordered a clerk to give him the money in the cash register at the Turkey Hill store at 17 Briarcrest Drive shortly before midnight, but did not show any weapon.

Witnesses saw him fleeing east on Briarcrest Drive in a dark colored sedan.

He was described as a thin, bald black male in his 50's, and was said to be wearing a green trench coat and light colored shirt, large framed sunglasses, and a white towel wrapped around his shoulders and head, police said.

Investigators have released store surveillance photos so that someone may recognize him. Anyone with information is asked to call Derry Township police at 717-534-2202.

Police said a cash reward of up to $2,000 may be offered through Dauphin County Crime Stoppers for information leading to an arrest.

The incident is similar to a gas station robbery Thursday in Lower Paxton Township, where a man wearing a green hooded raincoat and sunglasses held up the Hess store at 5390 Jonestown Road.

Lower Paxton police said that man also acted as if he had a handgun in his pocket, but did not display any weapon.
