Lynchburg Man Killed in Route 501 Crash in Bedford Co.

Bedford County, VA - A Lynchburg man is dead after the car he rode in overturned in Bedford County Sunday night.

State Police said 53 year old James Dale Gunter was a passenger in a car going north on Route 501 in the Coleman Falls area around 5:30 when the car ran off the road, hit a guard rail and overturned.

Police said Gunter was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene.

The driver of the car, 52-year-old Steve Oulds III of Lynchburg was charged with DUI.

The accident is still under investigation.
