Ex-soccer player continues to recover from shooting

A former professional soccer player from Harrisburg continues to recover from a weekend shooting in West Chester.

Jason Hotchkin, 35, was listed in fair condition at Paoli Hospital Tuesday afternoon.

He had been listed in critical but stable condition earlier in the day.

Hotchkin, who played for the Harrisburg Heat and the Harrisburg City Islanders soccer teams before retiring in 2012, was shot several times in the arms, legs and back during a fight early Sunday.

He is a coach with the Capital Area Soccer Association and was in West Chester for a youth soccer tournament.

Police have arrested 25-year-old Curtis Zebley of Kennett Square on charges including attempted murder, four counts each of aggravated assault and simple assault, and two counts of reckless endangerment.

His bail at Chester County Prison was set at $500,000 cash.
