Camp Hill police said a dead fox found in the borough this week was tested for rabies, but the results were inconclusive.
The decomposed was found Sunday in a rear yard in the 300 block of South 24th Street and delivered to the state Department of Agriculture for testing, police said.
However, police said that because the fox was severely decomposed, the Agriculture Department was unable to confirm or rule out that the fox had rabies.
Police noted that the department has not received a positive test for rabies this year on any of the animals submitted for rabies testing.
They urged residents to report any injured or sick looking animals.
