Heavy Storms Raise Isolated Flooding Concerns Wednesday

UPDATE: 12:52 p.m.

Roanoke, VA - A southerly flow of moisture around an upper level disturbance will be moving through the area Wednesday, forming showers and heavy thunderstorms Wednesday.

With the ground already saturated from general, soaking rains from last weekend, any heavy storms could quickly produce isolated areas of flash flooding.

Already, Flash Flood Warnings have been issued for sections of the Mountain Empire as showers and storms continue to develop.

The rest of the New River Valley, the Roanoke Valley, Southside, and Lynchburg will at least see rain showers, with some heavy storms possible by Wednesday evening in a few areas.

Be mindful of ponding of water on roads during and after sudden downpours. Never drive across a flooded roadway.

More hit-or-miss showers and storms are possible in between partly sunny skies Thursday and Friday.
