HALLAM, Pa. (WHTM) -

PennDOT has discovered a second sinkhole on Route 30 in York County.

A PennDOT supervisor spotted the first sinkhole in the westbound lanes Thursday afternoon, according to PennDOT spokesman, Greg Penny.

That prompted crews to close the right lane of Route 30 West between West Frysville Road and Kreutz Creek Road in Hellam Township.

While crews were on scene they discovered the second sinkhole, Penny said. Both are between 10 and 12 feet wide, and about 15 feet deep.

York County 911 dispatchers initially reported that police were diverting westbound traffic to Route 462, but Penny said there was never a detour.

He added that drivers should use caution in the area.

PennDOT does not expect the right lane on Route 30 West to reopen until late Friday afternoon.

The sinkhole is near the Shoe House Road overpass, where another sinkhole in late December closed the right lane of Route 30 for two days.
