Lynchburg, VA – It was the only pool party in town where dogs were allowed.

Four legged friends and their owners got the chance to cool off for a bit at the 3rd Annual Paws in the Pool event Saturday.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., dogs were able to swim and socialize at Miller Park pool.

Prizes were awarded for the Cutest Wet Dog and the Cutest Doggie Swimsuit contest.

The event was put on by Friends of Lynchburg Dog Park.

Treasurer Niro Rasanayagam says the great turnout will help towards their ultimate goal.

"We raised about $60,000 of the $120,000 we need to make all the improvements to the dog park," Rasanayagam said.

Paws in the Pool organizers say they will be having a Doggie Palooza event coming up soon on Saturday, October 12.
