COLUMBIA, Pa. (WHTM) -

Divers searching the Susquehanna River in Lancaster County for a missing baby have ended their work for the night.

Police believe 7-month-old Hamza Ali was kidnapped and killed by his mother's boyfriend three weeks ago.

Ummad Rushdi of Windsor Township has been charged with first, second and third degree homicide, concealment of the whereabouts of a child, and abuse of a corpse.

Investigators say Rushdi told them they will never find Hamza's body.

Search crews have been working in various locations in York and Lancaster counties ever since the baby was kidnapped from Rushdi's parents' home in Upper Darby on August 4.

Earlier Wednesday, a cadaver dog hit on an area near the river in West Hempfield Township, Lancaster County. That is where divers from Chester Police Department's Underwater Search and Recovery Team searched for more than two hours into the night.

The search was suspended at dusk. Chief Mark Pugliese with West Hempfield Township police said crews will resume efforts at Columbia River Park at around 8:00 Thursday morning.
