Senators set to clinch playoff spot

Harrisburg, PA– A.J. Cole tossed seven shutout innings and the Harrisburg Senators defeated the Altoona Curve at Metro Bank Park, moving to the brink of a playoff spot. They can clinch with a win tomorrow night in the series finale. Harrisburg has won five straight, matching a season-high.

The game was scoreless into the bottom of the sixth inning. Billy Burns led off with an infield single and Brian Goodwin followed with a walk. After a successful double steal, Steven Souza, Jr. broke the tie with an RBI fielder's choice. Later in the inning, Ricky Hague also drove in a run with a fielder's choice of his own.

Cole, who delivered his seventh quality start in as many outings with the Senators, gave up four hits, walked two, and struck out seven. The right-hander moved his record to 4-2 and lowered his ERA to 2.18.

Matt Grace tossed an inning, Neil Holland pitched a third of an inning, and Tyler Herron recorded the final two outs to earn his fourth save.

Billy Burns pounded out two more hits, both infield singles, raising his batting average to .361 in 24 games with the Senators. He also stole two more bases and is now 15-for-17 with Harrisburg and 66-for-73 on the season.
