PennDOT, state police and municipal police are joining a national enforcement initiative to "crack down" on impaired driving for Labor Day weekend.
Pennsylvania's enforcement is focusing on drivers impaired by drugs or alcohol as part of the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" effort.
"Crashes and deaths involving impaired drivers are completely preventable. We urge motorists to drive sober, unimpaired by drugs or alcohol," said PennDOT Secretary Barry J. Schoch.
During last year's Labor Day weekend, there were 125 alcohol-related crashes leaving eight people dead.
Pennsylvania's DUI Task Forces, State Police and local law enforcement will conduct checkpoints and roving patrols.
