Crash disrupts traffic on Route 581

CAMP HILL, Pa. (WHTM) -

A driver was critically injured in a crash that closed a section of Route 581 in Cumberland County this morning.

Police said the driver of a minivan was flown to Penn State Hershey Medical Center by Life Lion helicopter after crashing into the back of a tractor-trailer that had stopped for traffic.

The tractor-trailer driver was not injured.

All eastbound lanes were closed between Exit 3 for Route 11 in Hampden Township and Exit 5A for Routes 11/15 in Camp Hill after the crash occurred just after 9 a.m.

One eastbound lane reopened at around 9:45 a.m., and the other reopened after 10 a.m.

The westbound lanes had been closed between Exit 5A for Routes 11/15 North in Camp Hill and Exit 5B for Routes 11/15 South in East Pennsboro Township, but both reopened at around 9:40 a.m.
