If you were on Second Street early Sunday morning, you probably noticed a very heavy police presence, even by Restaurant Row standards.
There are estimates that as many as 30 police cars were lined up at one point along the area outside of the parking garage right beside the Tom Sawyer's establishment.
You can see the police cars on a You Tube video labeled "Stay Classy Harrisburg."
So what was the reason for all the police?
Harrisburg Police Captain Annette Oates said that two men began fighting right outside the garage. A Harrisburg police officer went over to break up the fight and one of the men then started fighting with the police officer.
"Another individual approached the individual officer and incited the crowd which also didn't help," said Captain Oates. "He was there by himself and we're talking about hundreds of intoxicated people. It was a very dangerous situation for the officer."
The call went out that there was an officer in distress. Officers from a handful of local jurisdictions responded. It was the holiday weekend, so some forces had extra patrols.
The man who fought the officer and the man who tried to instigate the crowd were charged with disorderly conduct, public intoxication and obstructing justice, police said.
For Madelaine Wilson, who was working downtown at the time, it didn't seem too far out of the ordinary.
"I saw a whole bunch of cop cars. I had heard that a cop ended up getting hit," she said. "It was a little more than usual but there's always cops out front downtown."
